The Group Fitness Department at Merritt Athletic Clubs offers a friendly, welcoming environment that encourages member participation. Our certified instructors teach safe, well-cued classes designed to increase strength, improve flexibility, or challenge cardiovascular endurance. Our world class programs include BodyPump, BodyFlow, BodyStep, BodyJam, BodyAttack, BodyVive, BodyCombat, and RPM and also encompass classes such as cycling, low impact aerobics, and mind-body relaxation classes like yoga and Pilates. These classes are delivering the results people want and changing lives! Great music and passionate instructors inspire exhilarating workouts that more and more club members are making part of their regular fitness routine.

Group Fitness Class Descriptions

SH'BAM

Featuring simple but seriously hot dance moves, SH’BAM™ is the perfect way to shape up and let out your inner star – even if you’re dance challenged.

Set to a soundtrack of chart-topping popular hits, dance music that is heard in the hottest nightclubs around the world, familiar classics remixed and modernized Latin beats, SH’BAM™ is the ultimate fun and sociable way to exercise. Each 45-minute SH’BAM™ class is vibrant, unique and varied – and like all the LES MILLS™ programs, a new SH’BAM™ release is produced every three months with new music and choreography.

BODYATTACK®

BODYATTACK® is the sports-inspired cardio workout that builds strength and stamina. Movements are simple, high-energy, and provide a platform for achieving the highest personal levels of aerobic and anaerobic fitness. No frills. No equipment. No place to hide! BODYATTACK® is not only the ultimate cardiovascular challenge but also delivers a generous measure of health benefits such as improved heart and lung function, increased bone density, and rapid fat loss!

BODYCOMBAT®

Explosively popular in Clubs around the world, BODYCOMBAT® combines kicks, strikes and katas from a range of self-defense disciplines like karate, boxing and taekwondo into an hour-long energetic routine. Music and choreography create a fierce, energetic experience which raises fitness levels throughout the whole body, while reducing fat and cholesterol.

A revolution in mind-body training that will change the way you feel about your body forever! A dynamic exercise-to-music program that leaves class members relaxed and renewed, Body Flow combines the best of eastern disciplines like Tai Chi and Yoga with popular new methods such as Pilates.

BODYJAM®

BODYJAM® is a dance-based group exercise program that combines the latest dance and music styles to produce a fitness experience at the cutting edge of modern exercise trends. “BODYJAM® is the cardio workout where you are free to enjoy the sensation of dance. BODY PUMP®

By using barbells with adjustable weights set to motivating music, this revolutionary class will boost your endurance and speed up your metabolism for rapid fat burning. Watch out, this ain't no dance class! BODY STEP is an ALL-SYSTEMS-GO workout. Compelling cardio fitness that shapes and tones the legs, improves coordination, bone density, posture, and agility...what more could you ask for? BODY STEP retains the essence of a great step class and adds fun and athletic movements to the mix with huge amounts of spunk, personality, driving music, and great training principles. RPM®

RPM® is an indoor cycling program for developing cardiovascular capacity. RPM mirrors an outdoor cycle ride and can burn up to 700 calories in a single session! RPM® is a favorite of those wanting to reduce body fat and provides a fast improvement in general endurance and an increase in lower body strength.

BODYVIVE™

BODYVIVE™ is the low-impact group fitness workout that lets you choose just how hard you work. Using the VIVE™ balls, VIVE™ tubes and optional hand weights you’re talked step-by-step through the entire class by a skilled instructor, while listening to uplifting and inspiring music. Best of all, you finish feeling thoroughly rejuvenated – and fizzing with energy.

ZUMBA®

ZUMBA® The Zumba® program fuses hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy-to-follow moves to create a one-of-a-kind fitness program that will blow you away. Zumba® Fanatics achieve long-term benefits while experiencing an absolute blast in one exciting hour of calorie-burning, body-energizing, awe-inspiring movements meant to engage and captivate for life! The routines feature interval training sessions where fast and slow rhythms and resistance training are combined to tone and sculpt your body while burning fat. Add some Latin flavor and international zest into the mix and you've got a Zumba® class!

MERRITT BOSU CHALLENGE

MERRITT BOSU CHALLENGE is an energizing class with basic, easy-to-follow moves. This class incorporates the principles of work and recovery intervals, along with high or low impact aerobics, resistance, balance, and core strength training...all in a 55 minute class. Merritt BOSU Challenge will improve coordination, bone density, posture, and agility.

MERRITT SIZZLE

MERRITT SIZZLE This exotic dance chair/floor is for every woman at any age. We incorporate isometric exercises to sculpt and strengthen all major muscles in your body. This class is not based on aerobic activity, BUT you will definitely attain cardiovascular results. The chair is used as a tool to do certain exercises as well as a prop to incorporate the exotic dance movements.
