This speed and agility program is dsigned to instruct athletes in proper sprint technique, agility development, and overall athleticism. Sports Performance Conditioning is a great way to get in shape and improve conditioning for the upcoming season. Athletes of all experience levels are welcome. Members $200 for 8-weeks (16 sessions). Non-Members $250. **For an additional $100, an 8-week resistance training program will be provided for high school athletes only.**

XRKade is now at Merritt Eldersburg! XRKade was developed by a group of gamers and fitness enthusiasts with a goal of making games and physical activity more fun.

We’re challenging you to swim 100 miles in 2010! Swimmers will receive a 100 Miles Club swim cap after signing up. Swimmers who complete their laps throughout the 2010 calendar year will receive a 100 Miles t-shirt at the completion of the 100 miles. One mile in the Eldersburg pool is 72 lengths of the pool. Have the lifeguard sign off on your completed laps after swimming. This is a FREE program and is open to Merritt members only. Sign up is easy! Download 100 Miles Registration Form and bring it into the club!

This hour-long class will give girls ages 11-16 the tools they need to tone, lose weight, and improve self esteem. Exercise, healthy tips, and nutrition will all be included. $10 per class or $110 for all 6 weeks.

Designed for children between the ages of 12-15. The purpose of the program is to teach basic aerobic and resistance training principles and address proper exercise etiquette. Sessions consist of both classroom and hands-on training that will get kids ready to be on the fitness floor and cardio equipment. Safety, nutrition, how to use equipment properly, and just some of the topics covered in this comprehensive course. Once the Junior Fitness Certification is completed, participants will be certified to use all the equipment in the club (excluding free weights) and will be allowed to workout without a parent present.

Fun and Fit Kidz Sports can help children learn and develop new skills, including coordination, communication, and fine and gross motor skills. Fit and Fun Kidz is a great way to help your child, ages 3-5, learn and have fun while encouraging them to create healthy habits like exercise and fitness. This 6-week class will focus on two weeks each of soccer, basketball, and t-ball. The instructor will enhance your child's understanding of dribbling, shooting in the goal, kicking, passing, throwing, batting, and running bases. In addition, we will have discussions about healthy eating habits and nutrition.

Kids Zone Inner Artist Join the fun in the Kids Zone! Each child, ages 3-5, will create their own abstract painting using different painting techniques. No experience necessary, just a desire to create and have fun. Sign up today and see what your child can create!

Wee Sports Does your child need a place to burn off energy? Wee Sport is a one hour program that will do just that! Games include tag, red light green light, bean bags, balls, etc. Wee Sport will allow your child to burn energy in a safe environment while learning foundations like playing with others, taking turns, and having FUN! For children ages 3-5. Member cost $40, non-members $80.

Story Crafters Story Crafters provides classes that take the basics of a music and movement class and adds an academic element by having children experience themes using a multi-sensory approach. We encourage the children to engage in songs, finger play, instruments, appropriate developmental motor skills, and social play. Each class will be based on a story that the children can act out and will be followed by a craft. Story Crafters provides a unique experience for each individual child to learn and grow in a fun-filled environment. Program is for children ages 3-5. Members $80. Non-Members $120.

Tumble Bears Gymnastics For toddlers 18 months to 36 months and a parent or caregiver. Parents also have a wonderful opportunity to spend some special one-on-one time with their little ones in a stimulating and nurturing environment.

Winter Dance Session Join us for a wide variety of weekly dance classes including Ballet, Modern Dance, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Introduction to Dance, and Musical Theater. Registration is now open. Open to members and non-members, ages 2 through adult. Classes take place Monday through Saturday. Registration is still being accepted for the Merritt Dance Academy. Merritt Masterpiece Art Studio Encourages participation from all interested students regardless of their background or prior knowledge. The program emphasizes individual expression while teaching new skills, ideas, and techniques to students ages 3-12. The over all curriculum focuses on art production, criticism, appreciation, aesthetics, expression, and history. At the end of the session, an exhibit will be held so parents and friends may view artwork created by the students.Members $70. Non-Members $85.
Irish Dance Workshop Join us to learn basic Irish Step Dancing. Receive instruction on traditional Irish dance moves and learn basic steps to Irish music. Two classes (ages 6-10 and 11-adult). Ages 6-10 meet 1:00PM-2:00PM, ages 11+ meet from 2:00PM-3:00PM. Members $30. Non-Members $40. March 6, 13, 20, and 27.

SCUBA Classes Forming Now! Consider SCUBA diving if you are comfortable being in the water; you are in good physical health; your idea of a vacation doesn't include tour buses; or you like seeing new things and meeting new friends. Undersea Outfitters offers small class sizes, learning at your own comfortable pace, inspiration about the passion of diving. Youth Stroke Club This club is for advanced swimmers ages 6 and up. It will refine participants' existing swimming skills, allowing them to develop more advanced techniques. Focus is on speed, endurance, and racing techniques. To qualify for this club, swimmers must have knowledge and basic skills in all four strokes, must be able to swim freestyle and backstroke for 50 yeards, and be able to perform at Red Cross Level IV and above. Members $56 once a week, $94 twice a week. Non-Members $70 once a week, $113 twice a week.

Adult Stroke Club Club is designed to develop the swimming techniques of adults ages 16 and up. Stroke club provides basic stroke drills designed to enhance lap swimming. Participants will gain a solid knowledge of the four strokes and build endurance. To qualify for Stroke Mechanics, swimmers must be able to swim Freestyle for 25 yards and Backstroke for 25 yards..

Merritt Athletic Swimming-Year Round Swim Team Merritt Athletic Swimming is a year round swim team that has grown to two practice locations - Towson and Eldersburg. The locations combine with over 100 swimmers. This is a competitive swim team program that is year round and offers five competitive levels in which to compete. Practices work on improving stroke form, endurance, and speed of swimmers. Practice times vary according to level. Download brochure and registration form.

Red Cross Lifeguard Certification Red Cross Lifeguard, CPR, and First Aid Certification Course. Must be 15 or older. This is a fee-based course that requires advance registration.
Pool Parties Book your child's birthday party or sports group party at the pool! We offer basic invitations and provide games and activities for your guests. Parties can be themed, basic, or even SCUBA! If you'd like a party for children under 6 years of age, you may also contact the Kids Zone for a party that consists of one hour of pool time followed by an hour at the Kids Zone.

Pool Toy Glow Swim For ages 8-13. Blast off on our NEW pool toy, the ROCKET ship, for an hour...then out go the lights and on go the glow necklaces for an hour of glow swim. Myofascial Release For chronic holding patterns. This is slow work and the intention is to stretch the fascia that surrounds the muscles.
Sports Massage Working with athletes to keep muscles flushed from lactic acid and metabolic waste producs trapped in the tissue from training. Reduces muscle soreness and adhesions so the athlete can maintain their training schedule.
Pregnancy Massage Designed especially for women who are either pregnant or post partum. As a woman's body goes through many physical and hormonal changes, the massasge therapist brings comfort and relief.

Kool Dude Karate Party Bring your friends to watch your party coordinator break boards! If the birthday chiild can pass the test, they too can break boards with Master Dan. Learn Karate skills to impress and defend. There will also be a Karate demonstration before the party ends. Party includes invitations, set up and clean up, party coordinator to lead activities, 2 hour party for 14 children with the birthday child at no charge, party favor (Karate headband). Members $225. Plaster Painting Party Bring your friends and let them pick a plaster item of their choice. Then, let imaginations take over as they paint and finish their project! Party includes invitations, set up and clean up, party coordinator to lead activities, 2 hour party for 14 children with the birthday child at no charge, art supplies (paint and brushes), and the plaster piece as a party favor. Members $225. Non-Members $275.
Parent's Nite Out Parents, leave your child(ren) with us and have a night out! We will be making a craft for the children to take home and will watch a G-Rated movie. Pizza and drinks included. Second Friday of each month. Reservations must be made by the Wednesday prior to the night out. Member cost $20 for one child, $5 for each additional child. 5:30PM-8:30PM. No diapers or accessories are available. Please bring supplies if your child is not potty trained!
